Hidden Valley Highlands and the Muskoka Ski Club is a great place to work. It is a fun, family-like setting with flexible hours, multiple departments to choose from and best of all – our staff receive a Season’s Pass that allows access to the slopes when not working. Training is provided in each department for specific duties and working at HVHSA is a great way to build your customer service skills and experience. We are happy to welcome students, those new to the workforce, and people interested in a second job during the winter months to our staff.
There are both indoor and outdoor positions available. We are hiring for all departments including:
- Customer Service/Ticket Desk
- Food and Beverage (busser, kitchen staff, cashiers)
- Snow School (instructors and teaching assistants)
- Parking Attendants and snow removal

Job Descriptions
Snowmaker
Reporting to the Outside Operations manager, the Snowmaker is a seasonal position from mid-November to mid-January. The position is paid on an hourly basis and evening night shifts can be expected. This is an outside position that requires working in cooler temperatures and long hours. The Snowmaker works with Outside Operations Staff, including Groomers and Lift Maintenance Supervisors. Setting up snowmaking equipment, monitoring of snow production and water & air pressures are frequent requirements of this position.
The major job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Make snow in predetermined locations
- Safe operation of snowmobiles, machines and snowmaking equipment
- Shut down and drainage of guns, hoses and main lines
- Use proper transportation routes
- Compressor startup and shut down
- Repair of snowmaking equipment
Ski Lift Operator
The Lift Operator position is a full-time and or part-time seasonal position working on days, evenings, weekends and holidays during the Ski Season. The position is paid on an hourly basis and is available in a part-time or full-time seasonal position. This position reports to the Outside Operation Manager and or the Lift Maintenance Supervisor.
The major job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Load members and guests onto the lift in a safe, friendly and efficient manner.
- Ensure safety is respected by all guests when loading and riding lifts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
- Maintain an orderly and fair flow through our line system.
- Ensure that all skiers and snowboarders are wearing a lift ticket or season pass.
- Be friendly, courteous, and informative to all guests.
Terrain Park Attendant
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide superior service to our customers.
- Act well and represent the ski club both in the chalet and on the hill at all times.
- Follow proper Park Etiquette Guidelines at all times while riding in the Park.
- Interact with the guests and respond to all guests in a courteous, efficient manner.
- Assist with all daily needs of the Terrain Park department.
- Contribute feedback on terrain park design, layout, fabrication, and maintenance.
- Inspect all terrain park features through patrolling and testing.
- Responsible for daily opening and closing procedures.
- Responsible for maintenance and safety of all-terrain park features, signs, promotional items, boundaries, pods, and resort ropes.
- Oversee and maintain the safe operation of the Terrain Parks. Identify and take action to resolve any hazards and obstacles for guest and employee safety.
- Provide documentation on daily inspection logs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures and legislation.
- Be outgoing, enthusiastic and take pride in being part of our team and the ski and snowboard industry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skiing/Snowboarding experience necessary: must be able to test features by doing 50/50s or Ski Slides on boxes, rails, and straight airing jumps safely.
- Professional, energetic and dependable. Won’t miss a shift.
- Must be able to reason and react with quick and thoughtful judgment while remaining calm under pressure.
- Strong communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
Ski and Snowboard Rental Technician
A Ski and Snowboard Rental Technician must present a friendly and personable appearance while working and must have basic knowledge of products and services in the Rental Shop at Hidden Valley Highlands. The position is available as a part-time and/or full-time seasonal position and is paid on an hourly basis and the work schedule will include evenings, weekends and holidays. The Ski and Snowboard Technician will report to the Rental and Repair Manager and supervisors. This position is paid hourly.
The main job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Greet customers in a courteous and timely fashion.
- Assure that customers have appropriate ski or snowboard equipment.
- Assign proper length of ski or board and adjust bindings to fit customer’s rental boots.
- Complete rental forms accurately and initial in the technician spot.
Cafeteria Cashier / Bartender
The Cafeteria Cashier / Bartender position is a full-time and or part-time seasonal position working days, evenings, weekends and holidays during the Ski Season, that reports to the Food and Beverage Manager. The Cafeteria Cashier / Bartender must present a friendly and personable appearance while working and must have basic knowledge of products and services and be comfortable interacting with guests on a regular basis. This position is paid hourly.
The main job responsibilities on which your performance will be evaluated include but are not limited to:
- Operate the Point of Sale Machine and cash out F&B sales.
- Make accurate cash transactions.
- Keep an adequate float on hand.
- Stock and maintain condiment station, beverage station, confections and pop coolers.
- Keep the front end of the cafeteria clean.
- Be courteous and friendly with guests, Members and staff.
- Set up Member’s coffee
- Maintain a safe and clean workplace.
- Always come to work in a punctual manner, uniform in place with a high standard of personal hygiene.
- Bartenders must have current Smart Serve Ontario certification
Second Cook
The Second Cook position is a full-time and or part-time seasonal position working days, evenings, weekends and holidays during the Ski Season, that reports to the Food and Beverage Manager. The Second Cook must present a friendly and personable appearance while working and must have basic knowledge of handling products, offering services and be comfortable interacting with guests on a regular basis. This position is paid hourly.
The main job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and cook food as directed and in the appropriate proportions
- Fulfill food orders in a quick and efficient method
- Maintain a safe and clean workplace.
- Always come to work in a punctual manner, uniform in place with a high standard of personal hygiene.
- Always be friendly with guests and staff members.
Bus Person
The Bus Person position is a full-time and or part-time seasonal position working days, evenings, weekends and holidays during the Ski Season, that reports to the Food and Beverage Manager. This position requires some physical activity/strength. Keeping the chalet clean, clearing tables sweeping and emptying garbage and recycling are some of the responsibilities of this position. This position is paid hourly.
The main job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Cleaning tables, picking garbage off the floor, straightening chairs, emptying garbage cans, cleaning trays and cleaning washrooms.
- Maintain a safe and clean workplace.
- Always come to work in a punctual manner, uniform in place with a high standard of personal hygiene.
- Always be friendly with guests and staff members.
Guest Services Representative and Ticket Cashier
The Guest Services position is a full-time and or part-time seasonal position working days, evenings, weekends and holidays during our Season, that reports to the Guest Services Supervisor. The Guest Services position needs to have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, and present a neat and friendly appearance, wearing the uniform provided at all times. Main responsibilities include answering the phones, interacting and selling products to guests. The Guest Services position will require knowledge of products and services available at Hidden Valley Highlands. This is an hourly-paid position.
The main job responsibilities on which your performance will be evaluated include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, and excellent product knowledge.
- Sell tickets and rentals to the customers.
- Book lessons during the week and non-holiday periods.
- Occasionally make members’ passes or staff ID.
- Maintain awareness of all specials, coupons and advertisements.
- Accurately and efficiently operate a point-of-sale system which includes handling cash and balancing floats.
- Answering phones, transfer calls and know whom to phone as situations or emergencies occur.
- Relay customer complaints or requests to management.
- Maintain orderly appearance of register area and keep supplies stocked.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures and legislation.
- Be outgoing, enthusiastic and take pride in being part of our team and the ski and snowboard industry.
Snow School Employment
We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking, and reliable ski and snowboard instructors and teaching assistants to provide our guests of all ages and abilities with fun, engaging experiences sliding on snow, and to help improve our guests’ skills so that they can have even more fun on the snow. Our goal is to create skiers and snowboarders who are active for life. As a snow school professional you are able to create a fun and safe environment, have the desire to share your love of skiing and snowboarding with our guests, have outstanding customer service skills, an ongoing desire to learn and grow as a professional, and an understanding of how to ski and/or snowboard.
Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistants have an interest in becoming a certified Ski or Snowboard professionals, and are able to work with younger students.
Teaching assistants help our certified instructors work with groups of students, providing assistance to the instructors and students as required, and learning the craft of teaching snowsports.
Training sessions to improve your riding and teaching skills are an important element of the teaching assistant program.
This position qualifies for High School volunteer hours and community service hours.

In order to teach, you must complete your Level 1 CSIA Ski, or Level 1 CASI Snowboard certification. These courses are for any competent skier/rider aged 15 years or older seeking to work as a ski or snowboard professional.

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE MUSKOKA SKI CLUB
We currently seek EL and DL-trained/certified coaches to fill vacancies in our U14 and U16 competitive race programs. Coaching in the member-based program is best suited for a positive, caring individual with strong communication and planning skills and the ability to be part of a team. Being able to react and adapt is just part of this fun and fast-paced environment. Candidates should understand current CSCF guidelines, LTAD model, and Snow Stars.
We encourage and support ongoing training including weekly sessions and ongoing professional development.
Applicants must be available for training, Christmas Camp, and a 9-week program. Additional opportunities may be available during the week and pre/postseason.
Coaches work closely with our Technical Director and report to the Head Coach.
Competitive compensation program based on certification and experience.
