Learn the skills and tactics needed to become a ski and snowboard instructor with our professional training staff.
Take part in training sessions that will help you improve your skiing and/or snowboarding skills and learn the teaching and class management skills necessary to pass your level 1 CSIA (ski) or CASI (snowboarding) certifications.
Pre-season training sessions start in early December. Regular in-season training sessions will be scheduled on weekend mornings prior to the hill opening for the day.
The minimum age for the CSIA level 1 is 14 and CASI Level 1 is 15.
You will also gain hands-on experience volunteering with ski and snowboard lessons. Working with experienced instructors and their students you will practice assisting students and managing the class. We will have volunteer opportunities available during our holiday camps December 20-23 and starting Saturday, January 8th and Sunday, January 9th as part of our 8-week programs.
We ask for at a minimum a commitment to either Saturdays or Sundays during the 8-week programs. Volunteer hours may be used towards high school volunteer hour requirements.
In exchange for your volunteer hours, you will receive training sessions, and staff tickets for the days you are volunteering and/or training. We will also extend a few extra tickets here and there as thank yous! Truly dedicated junior instructors may even earn a staff pass.
Application process: After registering for the program online please send a resume to snowschool@skihiddenvalley.ca. We will arrange an interview with each candidate.
